故宮南院邁向新里程！故宮南院二館主體建築工程22日啟動，國立故宮博物院院長吳密察主持動土典禮，縣長翁章梁、立委陳明文及內政部次長吳堂安等貴賓出席，見證故宮南院往雙主館階段大邁進。

翁章梁說，故宮南院二館國寶修復館終於動工，這對嘉義人來說是一件非常高興的事！故宮是個國際性的博物館，這樣的投資與建設勢必讓嘉義與世界連結，讓世界認識嘉義；尤其10月10日雙十節國慶焰火將在嘉義故宮南院施放，屆時透過電視鏡頭轉播，民眾將看見故宮南院的美，誠摯邀請大家來故宮南院走走，除了欣賞美景外，也能來此看文物展出，絕對讓大家不虛此行！

國立故宮博物院吳密察院長表示，二館完工後，南院將有雙主館相互輝映，大幅增加展示空間，讓南院能策辦更多的好展覽，呈現國寶精華、新媒體及國際展。
除展覽以外，二館也將作為文物修護的交流與推廣的平台。109年10月發表二館的設計方案，以故宮典藏的青銅器文物做為建築物立面主意象，將「綠寶盒、水墨、翰墨山水」等概念，融合現有一館的飛白、墨韻及湖畔景致，作為整體景觀設計意象。
故宮表示，南院二館的工程由內政部營建署專業代辦，期間因疫情及全球工料上漲等因素，歷經3次流標後，7月27日決標，工程費31億9,394萬元，總工期1,470日曆天，預計115年10月前主體建築完工，再由故宮續辦室內裝修及策展，116年12月底開館試營運。
