郭貞慧攜手臺南台鋼足球隊深入基層，共同推動台南溪北地區幼童足球教育。
前台南市觀旅局長郭貞慧今日宣布，將與台南市台灣鋼鐵足球隊與台南市足球委員會，深入基層共同推動台南溪北地區幼童足球教育，這項計畫將會由專業教練與國手長期培育「足球種子」。
甫投入台南市第一選區立委選舉的郭貞慧，在觀旅局長任內就與台鋼多次共同推廣體育活動。T1籃球聯盟「台鋼獵鷹」的主場賽事也多次邀請郭貞慧擔任開球嘉賓。

郭貞慧表示，每逢世足賽，台灣都只能當「一日球迷」，但其實台灣有發展足球運動的潛力。台灣在「五人制足球」項目也曾踢進過世界盃，過往表現不俗。郭貞慧強調，台灣的孩子不是沒有能力，只是常常欠缺資源。因此她特別找了台鋼與台南市足委會深入溪北地區幼兒園，培育「足球幼苗」。她也承諾，這會是長期性的計畫，她與台鋼要為台灣打造台版的「足球小將翼」。
郭貞慧以長年來對日交流經驗為例，日本從小扎根體能教育。因為全民運動的風氣影響，日本在體育項目才能一直保持高度競爭力。郭貞慧認為，台灣也必須從基層打造「體育友善」的環境，正好台鋼與她的理論一拍即合，於是這項計畫應運而生。

郭貞慧相信，一直以來，世界都因為棒球認識台灣，但只要持續推動足球教育，也可以大幅提高台灣的國際能見度。
